Meet Hugh
My name is Hugh A. McNaughten and I was born and
raised in east Texas near Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend lakes. It was
along those same lake shores that I began to wander into the woods
with my father and learn how to hunt. I started fishing when I was
four years old and started hunting when I was six. I killed my first
deer when I was seven and caught my first 10 lb. bass when I was 14. I
love the woods and waters so much that I worked to live and learn all
that I could. I started fishing bass tournament trails when I was 16
on Sam Rayburn lake, and I have never missed an opening day of deer
season since I was 6 years old.
I came to Nashville, TN in 1983 and immediately fell in love with
Tennessee and her people. I became heavily involved with Hunter and Bowhunter Education programs and much like everyone else, I started
watching the Tennessee Outdoorsman Show with Jimmy Holt. I became
involved in speaking at seminars for the Hunters Night Out programs
for the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative based in LaVergne, TN which
allowed me to meet local celebrities such as Jimmy Holt and Bill Hall.
During my tenure as a Hunter/Bowhunter Education instructor, I found my
wife and best friend, Joy. We were married in 1998 and I immediately
became part of a very large family. We have two fine daughters,
Kimberly and Monica, and they have their children, Shelby, Lawson, and
Tyler. These children are my life now.
Joy and I plan our hunting and fishing trips so that the grandchildren
are always welcome to go. I truly love to teach them and watch them
grow and learn.
I truly believe that the rewards that we receive from being in the
outdoors starts
when we become parents and grandparents.
